Prescribing and dispensing are two distinct steps that Health360 keeps clearly separated while connecting them seamlessly. A clinician prescribes from the facility’s drug formulary during the consultation, with allergy and interaction checks before the prescription is saved. The prescription flows to the pharmacy queue where a dispenser retrieves it, confirms the quantities, and marks it as dispensed — at which point the drug stock levels are decremented automatically. No manual stock adjustment is needed after each dispense, so the pharmacy inventory stays accurate without extra counting.

Prescribe from the facility formulary

During the consultation, the clinician opens the prescription panel and searches the facility’s drug formulary by generic or brand name. Selecting a drug pre-fills the standard dosage and frequency; the clinician adjusts as needed and adds administration instructions. Only drugs in the formulary can be prescribed, so the prescription is always tied to something the facility actually stocks and can dispense.

Check for allergies and drug interactions before saving

When a drug is selected, the system checks it against the patient’s recorded allergies and against any other drugs already on the prescription. An alert is shown if a known allergen or a recognised interaction is detected, and the clinician must acknowledge the warning before the prescription can be saved. The check is advisory rather than a hard block, preserving clinical discretion while ensuring the risk is not invisible.

Add multiple items to a single prescription

A single visit often results in more than one medication. The prescription supports multiple line items on the same document, each with its own drug, dosage, frequency, duration, and instructions. The patient receives one prescription note and the pharmacy sees one dispense task, keeping the workflow clean for both sides.

Dispense from the pharmacy queue

Completed prescriptions appear in the pharmacy dispense queue automatically after the consultation is signed off. The dispenser opens the task, reviews the prescription, confirms the quantities being dispensed, and marks each line as dispensed. The patient’s pharmacy record is updated and the dispense is timestamped so there is a clear record of what was given, by whom, and when.

Decrement stock automatically on dispense

When a dispenser marks a prescription line as dispensed, the corresponding drug’s stock quantity in the pharmacy decrements automatically. No manual stock adjustment is required. If the quantity on hand is insufficient to fill the prescription, a warning is shown at dispense time so the dispenser can issue a partial supply and flag the shortfall for restocking.

Review prescription history for the patient

The patient’s prescription history is accessible from their profile and from within any consultation. It lists every prescription issued, the prescribing clinician, the dispensing date, and the drugs given. This helps a clinician prescribing a subsequent course of treatment see what has already been tried and avoid duplicating drugs that have already been dispensed.
