Attendance & Discipline

Every absence noted, every parent notified, every incident recorded.

Regular attendance is the single strongest predictor of academic success, and schools have a legal and pastoral duty to track it. Edu360 makes daily and per-period attendance fast enough that it actually gets done: class teachers mark registers in their class list, absentee alerts go to parents by SMS or push notification within minutes, and the cumulative record feeds both the report card and pastoral care reviews. Discipline and merit events sit in the same module so the student’s conduct history is always alongside their attendance.

1

Mark attendance by class or period

Class teachers open their register at the start of the day or each lesson and mark each student present, absent, late, or excused in a few taps. The interface shows only their assigned class so the screen stays uncluttered, and a submit action closes the register for that session.

2

Alert parents when a child is absent

When a student is marked absent, an automatic notification goes to the registered guardian’s phone by SMS and push notification within a configurable delay. The message names the student, the session, and the school, so parents are informed before the morning is out. Parents can acknowledge the alert in the portal and log a reason.

3

Categorise absences and lateness

Distinguish between authorised and unauthorised absences, medical absences with a certificate, and lateness with or without reason. Category breakdowns appear on the student’s record and drive attendance summaries so pastoral staff see the pattern behind the numbers.

4

Surface cumulative attendance at report time

The report card pulls the student’s attendance percentage and session counts directly from the attendance module, so there is no separate calculation at report time. Thresholds for satisfactory attendance are configurable and schools can add class teacher remarks based on the data.

5

Record discipline incidents

Log incidents against the student file — description, category (misconduct, suspension, exclusion), the staff member recording it, and any action taken. The cumulative record is available to the head teacher and pastoral staff without disturbing the teacher who reported it.

6

Log merit awards and commendations

Balance the discipline record with merit awards — certificates, commendations, leadership appointments, or competition wins. Both discipline and merit records appear on the student profile side by side, giving a balanced and honest picture of each student’s conduct.
