One place for every file, shared exactly as far as it should go

Every account gets a private My Drive that nobody else can see without an explicit share, plus access to the organisation's shared Drive if their role permits it. A storage-usage meter tracks personal space against its quota; organisation storage is shown as unlimited, so teams never have to ration space for shared work. Files can be moved between the two at any time, and moving a file into Organisation Drive is itself a sharing action — it does not silently become visible to everyone until a folder-level visibility setting says so.

An organisation folder can be marked organisation-wide, visible to every member by default, or private, restricted to its owner plus an explicit list of grantees. Below that, any individual file or folder can be shared with a specific person, a role, or everyone, at Viewer or Editor level — so a private folder can still contain one file shared out to a single external collaborator without loosening the folder itself.

Seeing a folder you cannot open is a dead end in most storage tools. In Hitaji Drive, a user who can see but not open a restricted folder can submit a request explaining why, and the folder's owner approves or denies it with a reason — turning a permissions wall into a two-click conversation instead of a support ticket or a hallway ask.

Rather than hunting through Chat for a file someone shared last week, smart views collect everything generated across Chat, Journal, Tasks, and Calls into one filterable list — personal, organisation, or shared with me — without copying a single byte. The file still lives wherever it was created; the smart view is a live index, so opening it from Drive is identical to opening it from the original chat message or task.

Large files upload through a multipart process — the browser initiates the upload, requests a part URL, uploads chunks, and completes or aborts the transfer — so a dropped Wi-Fi connection partway through a large export or video file does not force a restart from zero. Smaller files still use a simple single-shot upload, so nothing about everyday use gets more complicated to support the large-file case.

A Drive link works the same way regardless of who opens it: the file's owner, a fellow organisation member, or someone who received it as a direct person-to-person share all land on the same file with permissions resolved for their specific relationship to it, rather than a generic public-link workaround.

Migrating off Google Drive does not mean manually re-downloading and re-uploading every file. The import tool pulls Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides directly into Hitaji Drive, converting them into native Hitaji Office documents ready for real-time co-editing on day one.
